In March of 2006, Prior Art Searches engaged in a technological overhaul. The challenge was great: migrate 20+ years of data records stored in a MS Access 3.0 database, a whole slew of shared network drives, and a shelves of paper documents into an easily accessible intuitive web office — all while allowing for the processing of new business.

After a careful vendor selection process, vOfficeware was chosen to map a new path and build a strong foundation for Prior Art’s next 20+ years of successful business. vOfficeware developed a set up a single interface to capture all of the seemingly disorganized information. Within 3 months vOfficeware delivered.

The Enterprise Information System joined Prior Art Searches’s global workforce and global client base into a secure web portal. Clients in Japan could make orders during their evening alerting Prior Art Searches’s U.S. based work force to take immediate action. The next morning the Japanese clients were happy and Prior Art Searches would receive an electronic payment (of course which made them happy)!

A few short months later the comprehensive data migration process was completed and this web application could now support client needs dating back to the history of the firm. With no need to dive into an archival cabinet, no need to call FedEx, and no longer requiring employees to report to the physical office the enterprise system allowed Prior Art Searches to thrive.

With the all-electronic processes designed, developed and implemented, today Prior Art Searches, Inc does business in 7 more countries than it used to 3 years ago. Employee satisfaction has increased as has overall product quality.
